ASTM WK98461
Revision to cannabis/hemp extract and flower vaporizer device classification standards. Documents to be merged into a single classification standard. Classification systems in the original standards were reevaluated and changed to better reflect cannabinoid product vaporizer devices currently available to the global market. The entirety of the standard was updated based on the proposed new classification system presented in this document. Considerations for the voter: The following proposed classification was developed in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders representing cannabinoid product vaporizer device manufacturers, cannabinoid vape product manufacturers, regulators, and consumers, among others. The intent of this standard is to create a classification system for electronic cannabinoid delivery systems based on: Intended cannabinoid product (herbal material or substance) Power source integration Heat source characteristics Reservoir characteristics Portability While most of the input for this standard did come from North America, an effort was made to solicit as much feedback from impacted global marketplaces as possible. Please remember that ASTM International standards are living documents and are intended to be updated and revised over time. This initial version will not be perfect, but it will serve to provide marketplaces with the information they need to make informed decisions regarding electronic cannabinoid delivery systems.
