The revised TGA method addresses three key points: 1. An isothermal step is introduced at 125oC to remove moisture from the sample. This allows the other bulk compositional parameters to be calculated without the presence of moisture. 2. The temperature of the inert phase of the test has increased from 550 to 700oC. Some users of D8474 reported excessively long test times as weight loss events continued to occur at 550oC. 3. The oxidative phase of the test has increased from 550 to 700oC to align with the new rCB ash content determination by furnace method.
