New Specification for Standard Specification for Poly (Vinyl Chloride)(PVC) Closed Profile Gravity Pipe and Fittings With Flush Bell & Spigot Based on Controlled Inside Diameter for Sliplining Application
1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers requirements for poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) closed profile plain end sewer pipe with flush couplings and related fittings in sizes (18 to 60 in.) based on a controlled inside diameter.
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.3 The following safety hazard caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 8, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Note 1—Pipe and fittings produced to this specification should be installed in accordance with Practice D2321.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

Rationale
The existing ASTM F1803 standard is written for direct bury application. We make a product that has a flush bell as opposed to the traditional thermoformed bell & spigot specifically for sliplining. Sliplining is fundamentally different than open cut gravity pipe installation in a few ways that need to be addressed by the new standard.
Remove Section 7.2.3 as it does not apply
Add Section 7.7.1 specifying a 2.5° angular misalignment
Add Section 7.7.2 specifying a 3% deflection requirement under ASTM D3212 Section 7.4
Add Section 7.7.11 requiring a minimum coupler inline pull apart strength
ASTM F1803 would be updated to remove “or plain end pipe with couplings” from section 1.1.
Users are municipality water & sewer agencies, engineers, & contractors in that field.
