Rationale

Proposed revision to ASTM F3261a to tighten the current specification requirements for Heat and Light Stability Rationale: There has been concern for a while that an 8.0 DE specification requirement for heat and light stability is too lax. Recent testing indicates that the DE limit can be reduced. This recommendation is not to exclude product but rather make the specification requirement more appropriate to reflect current market place product performance. This recommendation is applicable to the ASTM F 3261 specification; the primary products tested in this study. Based on the testing and taking into account variance considerations the following changes to ASTM F 3261 requirements for heat and light stability are recommended
