Rationale

Supplementary Requirement S2 was originally intended to make possible the use of alternative lengths (bolt and/or threads), and alternative head styles or dimensions to accommodate occasional non-standard purchaser needs. It was always intended for such alternatives products to meet all the requirements in F3125/F3125M. However, the current wording is not explicit relative to the requirements and is misinterpreted to permit the use of bolts with countersunk heads, under the mistaken assumption they can meet all the requirements of F3125/F3125M. The proposed revision of S2 aims to explicitly clarify the requirements.
