New Specification for Technical Requirements for Universal Wireless Charger for Mobile Robot Systems
1. Scope
Mobile Robot Systems, in the form of Automatic Ground Vehicle (AGV) or Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR), (in this document to be generically referred to as robots) provide a means for point-to-point transportation of materials within and between buildings. Each robot is powered by battery/batteries which enable the point-to-point movement in carrying out the required operations/ needs designed for each robot. When the battery power is depleted, the battery is to be recharged for the next assigned task. Traditional charging systems for robots are via wired means and may be customised according to the size of the battery and connection/ communications required between charger system and robot. With foreseeable increase in the deployment of multiple make/ model of robots within the same premise, it is desirable for a universal charging system that could meet multiple robots’ specifications.
This specification covers the minimum design, performance, communication, and safety requirements for universal wireless charging systems intended for mobile robot applications, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
The requirements apply to systems consisting of a Transmitter Powering Unit (TPU), Transmitter Pad (TXP), and Receiver Charging Unit (RCU).
This standard is intended to promote interoperability among multiple makes and models of mobile robots operating in shared facilities.
This specification does not address wired charging systems or manual battery swapping methods. Need to say what we are not.
This standard does not address human electromagnetic exposure beyond compliance with the referenced international directives.
This is a dual logo standard to be developed collaboratively between Enterprise Singapore and ASTM F45.
