Work Item

ASTM WK87411

Revision of E2357-18 Standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage Rate of Air Barrier Assemblies

Rationale

Rationale: The test method requires the testing of three specimens (fig FIG. A1.1 Specimen 1—Opaque Wall, FIG. A1.2 Specimen 2—Continuity at Penetrations and FIG. A1.3 Specimen 3—Roof/Foundation Interface and Opaque Wall (with Modifications) (Optional). The test method also allows Specimen 2 and Specimen 3 to be combined resulting in two specimens for testing (Specimen 1 and a combined Specimen 2 and 3). The modifications clarify the intended requirement and provides better direction to the proponent and the testing agency. Item 8.3.2 is in informative language and needs to be in a note.
